The “clean” way to create an Eclipse target platform is to assemble it from features installed from p2 update sites.
Unfortunately, many open source libraries are not even available in the form OSGi bundles, let alone in the form of Eclipse features.
Also, many Eclipse projects do not put much effort into creating easy-to-reuse bundles and features:
- Eclipse bundles typically do not export version numbers for packages
- Eclipse features are often too coarse-grained.
In order to improve this situation, i will publish installable features for all libraries and tools that i will blog about via the new Genuinsoftware p2 update site available at this URL:
As a start, the site contains source and binary features for SLF4J.
More features will follow shortly.
